An “Ode to Mom” a Poem for Mom on Mother’s Day

Last November was my Mom’s 80th Birthday. I wasn’t able to attend the festivities - they fell on Thanksgiving Day and I had baskets to deliver. I’m the 3rd child out of 6. Oldest Girl. So I wrote a poem to my Mom and since Mother’s Day is coming….I thought I’d share it with my friends on Farfalle’s Blog:

An Ode to Mom…

If life is frightening, you calm.

If life is cold, you warm.

If life is gasping, you’re air.

If life is lonely, you’re there.

If life is empty, you come.

When life is ice, you’re sun.

Life’s starkness could never beat you.

Life’s tough times can’t defeat you.

We are all mystified by the amazing force of good you seem to be in the world.

You are the very definition of the word “hope”.

A Saint if there ever was one.

Does your mother drive you nuts….always asking you questions like “Do you really want to wear that?”….you answer of course being “No….that’s why I put it on!!”.
